Origins Youthtopia Firming Eye Cream
In a few months I will turn 30, and it seems that I have started to obsess about any evidence that this great landmark in life is happening with a new obsession about under-eye wrinkles. So, I stopped by the Origins counter at my local Macy’s store and purchased their Youthtopia Firming Eye Cream. I’ve been using it religiously for about a month when TreeHugger.com posted it on their site! It really helps to make me feel good about my choices since I wasn’t so sure I could trust a product that can be purchased at Macy’s in the first place!
This product has no parabens, phthalates, paraffin, or propylene glycol, and the packaging is made in-part with recycled materials. The eye cream itself is extremely gentle and doesn’t cause any concern with my sensitive skin so I am hopeful that it will do great things, if only for my self-esteem as I face my next Birthday!
Unfortunately, Origins products are not terribly cheap, and this product is no exception at about $38.00! If you are looking for a cheaper option for natural under-eye moisturizing, take a tip from your grandmother and try baby oil! Applying baby oil to your under-eye area and any other part of your body, especially after a shower, is a great way to seal in moisture. After all, moisture is the key to maintaining younger looking skin. It also works great as a make-up remover! Tip: when using any eye make-up remover, allow the product to stay on your eyes for at least 10 seconds before wiping it off. this will allow the product to break up mascara and other hard to remove products.
There is a great article about skin care in last month’s issue of Natural Solutions Magazine about how to care for your skin at different ages. The point of the article was pretty simple in the end. Avoid the sun, wear sun screen, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize, and drink plenty of water, and take your vitamins, as skin retains less moisture as we age.
Feel free to share your skin care tips and questions with me! I would love to hear what others have tried. Happy Wednesday!
